DNS syntax

Raw edit is BIND presentation for user records. The table editor still works. SOA and NS stay server-managed.

Lines

One record per line: owner [ttl] [IN] TYPE rdata. TTL 300–86400 seconds. Default 3600. Host @ is the apex. * is a wildcard as the leftmost label. Class IN is optional. Comments start with ;.

$ORIGIN sets the suffix for relative names. $TTL sets the default TTL when a line omits it. $INCLUDE and $GENERATE are refused. SOA, NS, and DNSSEC types are skipped on save.

ALIAS is apex-only and flattens the target's A and AAAA. CNAME cannot sit at the apex. A and AAAA must be public addresses.

Raw

On a domain, open the Raw tab. The editor loads user records as BIND text. Ctrl/Cmd-S saves. Empty text after comments and $ directives deletes user records. Without JavaScript this page and the Raw tab are a plain textarea.

JSON: POST /api/v1/zones/{zone}/raw with { text, preview }. Load with GET .../export?format=bind&records=user. MCP tool replace_zone_text.
